Level one is designed for all students who want to learn another language. This course introduces students to the four receptive and reproductive skills of listening comprehension , speaking, reading, writing and elementary grammar.

Menu Presentations

Menu presentations are today (odds) and tomorrow (evens), and the menu is due today (odds) and tomorrow (evens)!!

Here are today's assignments and lecture:

Lecture:
We learned how to conjugate the following verbs:
 
Poder ("to can", to be able to) - ue
Pedir (to ask for) - i
Recomendar (to recommend) - ie
 
Poder: yo puedo, tú puedes, él/ella/ud puede, nosotros podemos, ellos/ellas/uds pueden
 
Pedir: yo pido, tú pides, él/ella/ud pide, nosotros pedimos, ellos/ellas/uds piden
 
Recomendar: yo recomiendo, tú recomiendas, él/ella/ud recomienda, nosotros recomendamos, ellos/ellas/uds recomiendan
 
If you notice, the vowel to change is the second syllable from the last. This only happens for "stem-changing" verbs. These are also called "boot verbs".
 
We talked about the project and the presentation and worked on the first phases of the project.

El Menu

I have attached all the information for the project due next Tuesday (odds) and Wednesday (evens). Make sure you follow the rubric and have all the required elements. If you have questions, please email me ASAP, otherwise, you may save your questions for Monday, when the Presentation outline is due.
 
This project is worth 40 points, and the presentation is worth another 40.
 
There is opportunity for extra credit on the menu project. Extra effort is always awarded!

So, these last couple days were used for make-up work. You guys know that you are now responsible for any missing or late work that needs to be made up. I trust you will get this work into me as soon as possible, so you don't fall further behind.
