CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITIES – CSU

Apply October 1st – November 30th

Have your transcript available when applying (to report grades and courses taken).

No essay required 

The California State University (CSU) will continue to temporarily suspend the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses for the 2022-2023 academic year.

California residents and graduates of California high schools will be eligible for admission by earning a 2.50 or greater “a-g” GPA.

Any California high school graduate or resident of California earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be evaluated for admission based upon supplemental factors.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA – UC

Apply November 1st – November 30th

Have your brag sheet and a transcript available when applying (to report grades, courses, activities, awards, community service, etc.)

Answer 4 out of 8 Personal Insight Questions.  You can find the questions https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/applying-as-a-freshman/personal-insight-questions.html

UC will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships.

Minimum UC GPA of 3.0

Apply for the EOP Program, in the application it will ask you, make sure to click YES!

PRIVATE AND OUT OF STATE UNIVERSITIES

Deadlines vary (most are due during mid January).

Have your brag sheet and a transcript available when applying.

Usually requires your counselor’s recommendation & Secondary report, along with 2 teachers (Request recommendation 2-3 weeks in advance and provide a brag sheet).

Official transcript may be needed. For Common App, your counselor can upload your transcript.

SAT Reasoning (with essay), ACT with Writing, & SAT Subjects Tests could also be required.

Applications have different short-response essays.

Apply to most privates through the Common Application, and for others through their website.

Ask your counselor for a fee waiver, it will cover as many applications as needed for the Common Application: https://www.commonapp.org
