good morning happy Monday morning I hope you guys had a great weekend just not long enough I know it's always like that well I'm glad that we're here in the morning for Monday collaboration and I'm really happy to see that you brought your unit 5 data as well as your protocol form I that all of you have completed analysis number one so let me just go over agenda for today first thing is we're going to just review our analysis number one and then who won two analysis numbers two and three at the very end I will Express his chair out and also talk about next steps while we need to do for next week and super awesome rflp today is given the results of the unit 5 CSA we will be with different shape our instruction a response to the analysis by completing the data analysis for a cot we're halfway done we already did the first page so let's go ahead and jump right into it for now since 1 song over the overall performance and standards we already did that on your paper for your own data let's just go over the reflection questions you haven't done number 3 so the chance for us to share out and whatever you gain from the college's you can write that down and number three so number one what helps your students to be successful on this text for me I think one of the things that help my students be successful was the modeling in the independent practice allowing the students to have that opportunity you practicing classroom while receiving immediate feedback from me I didn't really working on my on my focus learning targets and I have been making sure that it's clear and that I refer to it frequently throughout my lessons so I think that that really helped my students this  opportunity  observe working you're learning Target throughout your lesson cuz it's something I've had difficulty with we would definitely love to have I think that's important because it's not we don't just want it to be there and current but we wanted to be referred to and have you guys a lesson and that's a very you should be able to understand did they meet the FLT how are they able to show their success in the class for that day so I think that's really  and that's been one of Starbucks is really making sure that I'm referring back to that throughout my lesson so I really appreciate having a chance to come in and see how you've made it work for you another step to that is in making sure that my FLT There's an opportunity for me to reflect and see we're not they mastered it so that a ticket peace and that's a piece of heaven for the working get that way you know for me I found it helpful when I re taught the lesson you know I know it's a lot of students were not able to grasp the concept the first time ever some of them dead but most of them didn't so no one ever The Last of the end of the last I know what I'll do is I'll identify the students and I'll round I'll identify the question to the standards that need to be done can you visit it so I'm in at the end of my daily my baby lesson and maybe sometimes instead of using my exit ticket without I'll spend that time we teaching the lesson  yeah I think that it's not just a give me thumbs up thumbs down but what of the whole class give you some down are you just going to keep going or take that time to reteach and really figure out what is going on what are you getting stuff done so I can just come say respond to you very quickly to see if he's that you do in class is very hard to find time to we teach that that less than or that concept but it's better better that you spent an extra time to reteach it so that the kids understand it so when you move forward to the next lesson or to the next chapter the kids have that Foundation another piece of the standing it's just simply just circulating the classroom if you know all of us can just do even a better job that just making sure that was circulating throughout the room just really really monitoring what I student taking that 5 minutes  me a I hope my students was implementing some of our concept lessons I know we've been getting trained and PD with UCLA on implementing concept lessons which it's real life aging tasks and activities for students that really when they get to a point they see the need for them that they need to know so for this one we use rcvr we had the kids walk away and walk towards and their own data was graft on the board and suddenly we needed to know how to solve that problem by solving systems I think for the kids to really see other is a reason why I need to know this so for me I'm implementing the concept lessons I thing really helped many of my students become sketch be successful on this test that's really cool thank you for shame for number one let's move on to number to the question is why my students play challenged by some of the standards and content of this universe yesterday what did you guys after that I think one of the possibilities maybe the opportunities for do this to engage with one another the students to engage with the teeth teacher on their learning and really receiving that immediate explicit feedback on their learning I did for me a lot of my students did not come with just those basic Foundation skills that's all I'm having really go over we teach that the material I think that's cool sorry I think that might be something will focus on later when we look at how to help our lower level students in working can I get to know for me it might be the way I'm checking for understanding sometimes I I don't have something that's very systematic I will just ask a question ask the entire class a question as opposed to using maybe main cards or a popsicle sticks so I've come to learn that when I do you something that systematic I feel like the kids are understanding the questions more than when they answer my questions set remind me from me speaking of questions is not just freak only asking but really thinking about what am I asking and I think I'm constantly and data has helped me get to know my students really well because I know exactly who is struggling who's right there with me who really needs those challenge Hudson Selena what I am asking how can I really ask higher-level questions that meets them where they're at and take some to the next level so even if you're a low level can I can ask a question that needs you where you're at and lose you up so I think really learning to do that that's something I'm going to work on it really appreciate it you said because I have a couple of students that that that tried kind of those little bit if I just asked a question they are kind of like not off on me I make sure that I'm using the popsicle sticks in the name I just really appreciate this time for us to reflect because I think her being one of the things that stands out is it allows me to reflect on life is it maybe Identify some areas that I can become stronger on and working with my kids you know because I'm looking at my personal data on my students one of the things that I what is across-the-board my students struggled and struggled in one particular area and so that causes me to just do some personal reflection on how I can become better and enough to learn from each other like previously you ask, can you go in a sterile I think that's really cool we need to continue doing that fight each other strains and help each other nothing baby so I'm hopefully you can some strategies from your colleagues that you can write a number 3 so take a moment and drop some stuff let's move on honor agenda our next item is about basically just asks us to focus on two questions with the lowest percent correct the item analysis just based on your report what were the two lowest the students that did the worst on question number 4 and question them 3 in  and let's look a number for what was the percent 40% - 40% standard okay so you need to go back to your person set 8 or i s s e that's basically solving linear systems so just looking at the response frequency on what was the most common incorrect answer  it looks like it was safe here by Farsi so we see that nine students shows see even though that correct answer was G  and it's interesting no one shows air beats if you take a test and you can pull out your text and actually look at the question A&B were the ones with cancellation  our students are there shows no solution or infinitely many solutions so let's move on to the next column what do you think my the rationale for arson selecting no solution  I think maybe our students don't have a true understanding meaning of no solution  do you know what I think from from me as well I would say that I need to do a better job and explain the infinitely me explain the difference between a solution and .9 solution system silver the students are using the substitution method to solve for the X & Y variable they get to the point where they get an answer of 90 + 9 and because it's not he was lying there stuck and they don't know what to do next so they don't have the understanding of of what that means when it's not equals 9 and you know we know that solving a system where there's one solution is hard enough but now we're introducing ones were there's no solution infinitely many concept is much deeper and it really requires them to know the difference what is 9 equals 9 vs 0 equals 9 versus x equals 9 they're very different algebraically and graphically so I think it would be a good sign for us to go back and we'll focus on that maybe later just going back to our classes in VT alright let's move on to and now since number three this requires you to have your Student Response reports the phone number for that  so it looks like this basically your students and we put it in order from Far Below basic to Advanced and this is kind of gives you an idea we're not asking can you to write their names into these three boxes but just so you know for you to know for you to know who are your lower level students whose kind of the middle group and who really really did well on this CSN how come we really challenged them so we're going to call them are bronze group or silver group and are gold so unless there was a bronze group what are some instructional best practices that we can really take that today now the goal place that we can walk away from this 60-minute collaboration ready to go with our kids they're walking in the door we have something for them that will really differentiate our instruction and help them to really Master these standards for CSA spy stuff for our lower-level group that really didn't do so well on this test are some instructional best practices it could be a warm-up question and could be a video that you know would really really explain this concept in a different way I would maybe help them understand it it could be a worksheet that you design will be some things that we can do I kind of you what kind of reteaching and using the station's model so all of my students are engaged and so specifically with the bronze group I'd like to do some intensive small group reteaching with those students and this would include some modeling by me as a teacher having them do some it glided and depend practice where I am immediately giving them feedback and identifying their struggle and the process and then while my bronze group is working as well boo boo I would love to see my silver group and I would love to design something to give them additional practice to have them really hone their skills that they already know and then what's on the skills that they may have had a slight struggle with and for my gold group I really love to see my girl group doing concept glasses and really apply is knowledge they have to real-world situations and so I would love to hear your input on what I can decide to actually use in my in my so what we can decide together to use you know for me I'm really proud of my my class this week the majority of my students are in my gold group you know how do you spell assistance specifically with some Challenge questions for them because they really are if they get it and they understand me but I want to be able Snapper you think that you and I could work together and you could help me too for this group I was planning on using maybe some kind of projects or some kind of questions or what are project so that they can apply what they learned in the classroom just like in practice more turn it goes along with the consulate since we did earlier or that I did early with my kids and then kind of maybe moving beyond that and adding to that making that deeper Billy helping them understand conceptually so I know in our text but there's a lot of application problems and Challenge questions are text with so many we can take a look at that and use that as a starting point for us okay now and noon scaffolding that for our students could I think if if you're the only turn in the class you don't have attitude as with you or you don't have other teaser instructional aides I can help you monitor the group The Challenge the the gold can probably do it on their own you might need to check in a few times during that class. But you know your pregnant Spence of enjoy your time with your bronze or silver group in their small group instruction and really modeling for them I really liked what you said Pam and just really guided instruction I think what their lower level students they would really benefit from Clear step-by-step this is how you solve and going through some of basic skills again start the classes dress the basic skills you know I think that'll help or are are bronze group these are kids who are lacking of the fundamentals just being strategic about our our car warm up questions but I think that they would benefit from some that strategies rug everytime forget about refusing to address all three groups a lot of that cost the first time around so it's important that we spend a Time be teaching the lesson when necessary  what the app reteaching can come from the go through they can help you out and meet each other or help you with the warm-up in the 18th at 2 this is because you might get it and we want to challenge and we're going to challenge you with us application owns but for you to go to go back and actually teach it will show me can you have truly mastered that I like really appreciate that idea Grace cuz I think that is something important to be able to have our key am I  I think I'm going to try that on my racial YouTube that's good today is there we just finished an office one two three we showed out about what we're going to do in our classes so just make sure you really go and do that in your classes and of course come back and we'll debrief next week on how it went you know what did the video where did that worksheet where did that warm up question reteaching really work how can we redo that we're hauling in and make those things better for classes for next week where we are going to be writing another CFA so just make sure Runa do CSA number 6 so just make sure you come to collab with some questions that you really think would be great questions worth I think I'll be right together and I'm going to go give that and then analyze it the week after so any questions on Where we're headed for this week I just can't wait to visit some of your classrooms me too and we met her at faulty were able to differentiate instruction and response saranda Beacon Theater idea and alpha particle
