Keeping the ladies locker room clean!
The first of two years of physical education, PE09 focuses on the development lifetime physical fitness and personal nutrition habits. Exercises from a variety of techniques such as: weight training, yoga, Pilates, muscle conditioning, and aerobics will be mastered to improve strength, stamina, and flexibility to prepare for the Fitnessgram Test, a national health and fitness assessment. Academic assignments such as nutrition, human anatomy, fitness terminology, and exercise physiology will be included with daily physical activity. Students will work individually and together in group fitness activities. This class promotes a healthy physically active lifestyle, and helps students to become self-reliant and develop good consistent work habits.
STATE STANDARDS:
1: Students will demonstrate knowledge of and competency in motor skills, movement patterns, and strategies needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
2: Students will achieve a level of physical fitness for health and performance while demonstrating knowledge of fitness concepts, principles, and strategies.
3: Students will demonstrate knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activity.
