Assignment
Many students have completed the summer assignment, which will be collected the first day of school. All students however will take their first exam on Monday, 8/25, based on Chapters 2-6. Attached is the summer assignment called "Chapter Insights" for Chapters 2-6. Those who have not completed the summer assignment are not expected to complete the whole insights that other students completed over the course of weeks in just one weekend. What I expect to be completed for those that need to catch up is...
1) Downlaod the PP or word docs
2) Use your "American Pageant" book and do not read the chapter!!! Instead look at the insights and read the whole insight with answers. At the same time you are looking at the answers, for the sections called ID and Summary, look at the picture in the book that correlates with the ID section. Look at the summary question and analyze the picture. Then check the summary answer and see if you were correct. Then read through the OI section, questions and answers.
3) Assignment (to turn in) Copy the italicized questions in each insights (put the CH# in front of the section of ?s) and answer the italicized questions. I will corect these questions on Monday for full credit, plus they will be essential to help you get prepared for the test.
Also attached are a set of lecture notes that could provide extra information to help you prepare in this order (Discovery and settlement of New World, New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, 18th Century America).
Also below are two links to Youtube that has two videos that will quickly explain two of the first English settlements, Jamestown and Plymouth, and describe the motives and difficulties the first settlers had settling the New World.
